My name is Rose. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband, Computer Guy, for almost 6 years. I am a stay-at-home mom to a beautiful 4-year-old, affectionately called Monkey, who will be starting Kindergarten in the fall. Perfect timing, since Baby #2 will be here in October! I also have 2 wonderful, but destructive, dogs named Kaiyan and Maya. And, unfortunately, Computer Guy has a tarantula that is living much too long for my liking. But Monkey loves it, so I have to feed it. *sigh*
Computer Guy and I just bought our first house earlier this year, and are in the midst of remodeling (next up – new deck!). And I have found out that I am NOT a do-it-yourself-er. I am more of the supervisor type. I’m the one sitting back, drinking lemonade, reading a magazine, and telling someone that they missed a spot. But, unfortunately, that is not the way it is. I am the typical housewife…well, almost. I try, anyway. At least my family always has clean dishes and clean clothes, even if the floor isn’t always vacuumed.
I love to follow frugal and “green” blogs, but I’ve never found one that really fit my family. See, we’re not living frugally because we want to. We’re living frugally because we HAVE to. On the day that Computer Guy and I decided I would stay at home, we knew that things had to change drastically. We now live paycheck to paycheck, and we’re OK with that, for the time being. We do the best we can with what we’ve got. I cook most everything from scratch (haven’t tried bread yet, though), and hopefully by this summer we will have planted our garden. We’re also looking into composting and installing a clothesline once the deck is done. We plan on cloth diapering the new one when s/he arrives. We’re glad that, by trying to live more frugally, we’re also being more environmentally friendly. And that makes it worth it.
